Listing your home as “For Sale By Owner” may not be the most advantageous way to sell your home. Even though you think you’re saving money, you may actually end up losing money in the long run.
Selling your home as a FSBO property is actually a daunting task, as there are 115 different variables in the selling process that have to be proactively managed if you want to get top dollar for your home.
Going the FSBO route with no marketing experience, expertise in the market, or insurance to cover things that may go wrong is very risky. You could wind up leaving a lot of money on the table or setting yourself up for failure.

I had no idea that there were over 115 different variables in the selling process. My wife and I need to move for my work and want to sell our home quickly. It sounds like it could be more complex than I first imagined. Getting a real estate agent may be the best option for us.

Recently, my mother has been getting more serious about hiring a real estate agent. She wants to move out of the old family home and into something newer, and smaller. Her home would sell faster if she had an agent and I agree.
